Our Story Begins Here
❊ About Us
Building Future Leaders.
One Goal at a Time.
Girls Rocks Organization was founded in 2008 with a mission to empower racialized girls from low-income households through sports, arts, mentorship, and culturally responsive support. Since its inception, the organization has led innovative and impactful programs that use sports as a tool for social change, youth empowerment, and leadership development. Each year, we serve over 140 girls, with 60% of alumni returning as mentors or coaches and over 80% becoming first-generation college students—demonstrating long-term impact and sustainability.
Our past innovations include integrating mentorship into sports programming, implementing culturally specific services to address systemic barriers, and offering holistic family support. These approaches have allowed us to not only engage youth in physical activities but also create environments that promote personal growth, educational success, and leadership.
Girls Rocks Organization offers a culturally grounded, community-led approach to youth development that blends physical activity, arts, mentorship, and family-centered support. Our free, year-round sports programs such as soccer, track & field, and basketball are intentionally designed to promote not just physical health, but also emotional resilience, leadership, and belonging for girls from racially and economically marginalized communities.
We prioritize reaching young people and families who have limited access to traditional services due to language barriers, immigration status, or systemic inequities. Our model centers the lived experiences of Black, Indigenous, immigrant, and other girls of color particularly those from low-income households—and provides a safe, affirming space for growth and healing.
support to help girls develop self-confidence, healthy relationships, and resilience.
Our goal is to break down barriers, promote diversity, and build strong, resilient, and empowered young women who will inspire positive change in their communities and beyond.
